
There are many things we are not taught at school - how to wire a plug, what does interest mean, how do credit cards work. But we think some of the most important knowledge missing from sylabbus' around the world is feminism.
Sure, we may have some idea of who the suffragettes were - maybe we could even name a few historical feminists like Susan B. Anthony or Elizabeth Cady Stanton or Emmeline Pankhurst, or Sojourner Truth.
But few of us are taught the roots of feminism - where did it all come from, how far have we come, how far do we have to go?
We are not taught the importance of feminist analyses, consciousness raising, protesting, or making social change and we are rarely exposed to differing schools of thought across feminist theory.
From Black feminism to Lesbian feminism, Liberal to Radical, Marxist to Eco, there are dozens of different types of feminism each with their own theories, philosophies, resources, and lenses through which they view the world. Often, they overlap, or borrow theory from one another. We've done our best to categorize them as accurately as possible, but you might disagree.
