The subject of whether men can be considered feminists is a divisive issue between radical and liberal theories; the key difference being whether feminism is considered 'equal rights' or 'women's rights'.
Liberal Feminism
Feminism is for everybody
Feminism benefits men too (i.e. better paternity law, more freedom of expression)
Men should be platformed for their opinion on feminism
Men have just as much right to the word 'feminist' as women do
Because men are shamed for crying, they have a much higher suicide rate
Radical Feminism
Feminism is for women
Equality for everyone already has a word - humanism
Men can and should be allies, and men demanding to use the word feminist is another example of men not allowing women to have anything to call their own
Feminism should be detrimental to men because it removes their power
Books and speeches about feminism authored by men remove opportunities for women
Women should be centered in their own liberation movement
Men who call themselves feminists are pro-pornography, pro-surrogacy, and pro-sex work because these are industries that men enjoy
Applauding men as feminists because they believe women should not be treated as second class citizens is a bare minimum
The male suicide rate is high because men are more likely to die by suicide as the methods they have chosen are more violent methods (i.e. men are more likely to own guns, men are more likely to end their lives after the discovery of abuse, etc)
Women are groomed to be polite and make space for men and feminist places should be the one safe place we have to protect ourselves from this
